Welcome to The POUNDS FARM
a note from the owner :
"The Pounds Farm located in Foxworth, MS, has been in the family for 100+- years. I was born in 1960 and grew up on the farm. Growing up I watched both of my Grandfathers Alfred Slocum and Ott Pounds and my father Irvin Pounds all of whom lived on the farm their entire lives. In addition to farming, they were tradesman working as carpenters and farming as a way to provide vegetables and beef for their family. I am Sherman Pounds; I am the 4 th generation who has lived on this farm. My earliest memories of farming were planting a garden and following in my father’s footsteps, literally, as he plowed with Old Dud, the family mule, I would try and step in his footsteps. I remember the cool moist soil on my bare feet as it had been freshly turned as I walked behind him trying to reach the next indention my father had made, as he followed behind Old Dud. It seemed that all summer long we had some kind of fresh vegetables to eat and a garden to work in. My favorite was watermelon, it was like a watermelon buffet, all you can eat for weeks. Now a days, me and my family, my sister Sherri and her family and my first cousin Tommy and l still live on the old family farm. My Brother-In-Law, Terry, is an avid gardener planting and raising enough vegetables for his family and others. I have a few cows and plant a garden. It is hard to explain how blessed I feel to have the privilege to live and care for such a place. I do realize it is a blessing from God and his divine direction in our lives that brought me to this time and place and I pray that I will continue in his will to preserve it for generations to come."
Gratefully Blessed Sherman
